» givawoof - Dating China

Hello, I can't seem to find any information on my Grandmother's china. On the back stamped in gold letters - Embassy U.S.A. VITRIFIED CHINA. I also know the pattern # is EMB 10. I would really like to know the manufacture date or any thing else!!
Thank you,
R. Flowers

R. Flowers,
Your china was manufactured by the Jackson China Co of Falls Creek, Pennsylvania. They were in the business from 1923 to 1960, and were known mostly for hotel and restaurant ware, but their line included china for home use as well. The "Embassy" on the backstamp refers to the pattern name. If you're curious about value, check on www.replacements.com or eBay. Thanks for the question!

Harry Jackson was my grandfather, he lived in DuBois and walked to the china factory eveyday. He was murdered while on that walk around 1924 when my mother was 7 years old - shot to death while walking to lunch.

The china factory actually started around 1917 and my great grandfather took over after his death on behalf of my grandmother. Sad end to what was starting to be a great business. It never really flourished after his death.

William Harry Eshelman - yep, named after him!

I saw that you helped find information on someone else's china. I am having the same problem. I have my great grandmother's china from Embassy vitrfied china and I found the pattern online as EMB87. Can you give me anymore information on it and if I can find replacement pieces?
