» Barbara Nicholson Bell - Aren't porches fun?

Finding the right "tschotchke" for the shelf above the rocker or the perfect (or imperfect) faded rag rug is so much fun. My porch inherited a bunch of old wicker furniture, a small wooden bench painted in red (green poking through several places), and an amusing collection of old ashtrays that double as coasters.

Thanks for a great article, Susan! I can picture your porch very easily.

I love my porch because it's not as serious as the decorating I do in my home. I didn't mention the old bowling pin, the repro advertisement complete with dancing hot dogs & soda for the drive in movie snack bar, and the aluminum exit sign. It's also a great staging area, presently for 57 volumes of the Detectives Book Club series that smell like ciggarettes, and an old yet classic tuxedo that just happens to fit the mister. Thanks for the kind words about my porch story!
